Saverio Grosso began his career commissioning aircraft carriers for the U.S. Navy before moving into an engineering and consulting role within the energy industry. With over 20 years of experience, Saverio has managed large-scale energy program development projects, onsite commissioning (new and existing), testing, troubleshooting, balancing and analysis for a wide range of HVAC equipment and systems, across a range of facility types. He has been invited to speak to at numerous events for the USGBC, BOMA, IFMA, BCxA and AEE. Saverio holds several certifications from the Association of Energy Engineers and recently served as a board member for the Building Commissioning Association. He has been instrumental in defining legislation supporting NYC’s PlaNYC 2030 and 80×50 goals.
Proposed Session Description
Even the most successful Retro-Commissioning projects encounter some level of conflict. Fostering a culture of collaboration, trust, and engagement with the building’s operating staff can help overcome these challenges and prove to be valuable to the entire project team. Using project examples, this session provides guidance on how to engage the operations team, drive innovative training, and elevate workforce development for a successful, sustainable Retro-Cx program.

No- Important topic, but the main speaker, Saverio Grosso, gave a similr presentation at BuildingEnergy in 2018, RCx with Chiefs - Training Operators to Sustain the Process . I curated that session - I found him to be a very effective speaker, but turnout was low and not clear what he would present differently this time.

R1 Discussion:Saverio is a great speaker, thoughtful presentation. Is this redundant? Will there be a good turnout? This is a personality driven process. Engaging, very specific topic.

The proposed proposal covers the retro-commmissioning process of larger commercial and institutional buildings.  I would recommend the session at 60 minutes to give a little meat to the discussion.   The session will be similiar to the NYC presentation this summer with a little added to the requirements of BERDO 2.0 (Bostons regulations).  Attendance will be a result of how many people attending are in the business or want to learn how the process works for there buildings or clients.   Since the conferences are in different locations hopefully it will have different attendies.

While retro-cx is a technical topic, the underlying theme and storyline goes beyond the technical and drives at the fundamental pillars to successful project or program assessment, development, and implementation. This session will also help attendees develop roadmaps and training materials that can be used for to ensure savings and behaviors are sustained beyond their initial project, and benefits, both tangible and intangible, are realized. We will showcase examples of how previous award-winning project collaborations have shown significant benefits beyond the attainment of energy and carbon savings.
